A military conflict with NATO may erupt within the next 10 years, and Russia must be ready for it, said Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov during a meeting of the Russian Defense Ministry Board on December 16.
“It is necessary to ensure full readiness for any developments in the medium term, including a possible military conflict with NATO in Europe in the next decade,” Belousov said.
Belousov emphasized that a possible date for a military conflict is stipulated by the doctrinal documents adopted earlier at the NATO summit.
Speaking at a Defense Ministry Board meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted the increase in NATO’s military spending. He also pointed to the buildup of strike groups near Russia’s borders and that Russia must respond to this.
