29.11.2024, Hungary.

The launch of the medium-range ballistic missile ‘Oreshnik’ is causing the entire West to think and expressed hope that calls for caution will be heard, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Kossuth radio on November 29.

In his radio address, Orban said, ‘There are two pieces of news that should make European politicians think and show responsibility. Firstly, Russia has successfully tested a weapon that was previously unknown. This event has made all of us treat the situation seriously. And I really hope that it will make us and the countries of Western Europe show prudence and caution’.

The Hungarian prime minister noted that the new missile is an intercontinental ballistic missile and can be equipped with a nuclear warhead. He also emphasised that he had studied the technical characteristics of the nuclear charge and would not wish anyone to find themselves in such a situation. According to him, if the ‘Oreshnik’ is used with a nuclear warhead, the conflict could escalate into a full-scale war.

On 21 November, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the progress of a special military operation and the successful test of the newest medium-range ‘Oreshnik’ missile.

As a result of the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, one of the largest industrial complexes of Ukraine, which has been known since the times of the USSR and specialises in the production of, among other things, missile equipment, was hit.

For the first time in combat conditions, a medium-range ballistic missile in a nuclear-free hypersonic configuration, the ‘Oreshnik’, was successfully utilised. The purpose of the missile launch against the object of the Ukrainian defence-industrial complex was achieved, all the combat units hit the target, the Russian Defence Ministry reported.
