Kurginyan: The Western elite at the forefront shows unthinkable stupidity

26.11.2024, Moscow.

The Western political elite at the forefront is characterized by incredible meanness and stupidity, political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated on October 18 on the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio channel.

Kurginyan pointed out that today all attempts to build relationships with the West end disastrously, citing the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline and the complete destruction of Russian-German relations as examples. Essence of Time’s leader emphasized that there is nothing new in this; these are “historical constants.”

At the same time, Kurginyan noted the modern novelty lies in the “incredible, unthinkable meanness and stupidity of the contemporary Western elite.”

Since Russia is still a part (albeit an alternative one) of Western civilization and is deeply connected with it, it is painful for Russians to witness this stupidity and pettiness, the analyst emphasized.

“Russians cannot help but feel sorrow when they watch the debates between Trump and Biden or someone like Harris. It’s unbearable, it’s very painful. It’s very painful to look at these deliberately stupid faces: small, primitive, weak-minded,” he explained.

Kurginyan noted that the West used to have prominent politicians, such as US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1933-1945) or British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (1940-1945 and 1951-1955). Even Adolf Hitler, though partially insane, was nonetheless a significant figure. This, according to Essence of Time’s leader cannot be said about contemporary politicians.

“And what is all this? This is such pettiness, starting with Zelensky, who has grown engorged like a tick. He likes himself much, and he likes to be liked, and he’s engorged. And those standing nearby, what are they? What a disgrace to Europe! Where did this all come from? From what slums? From what incomprehensible storerooms was all this dragged out by the scruff of the neck and appointed? For what reason? For the sake of mockery? What does all this mean? What does this drastic drop-down of intellectual level mean? What Roosevelts, I beg you, what Churchills? Even what Hitlers? This is something so petty, so vile, so unscrupulous,” the political scientist said.

Kurginyan stressed that Napoleon, Churchill, Roosevelt, and even Hitler had some values, but modern Western political figures have none – they are as insignificant as mice. And, in his opinion, this is no coincidence.

He recounted a meeting that took place shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Munich speech with high-ranking representatives of Western non-governmental elites, the so-called “deep state.” According to Kurginyan, these representatives suggested discussing the managing of relations with the West after the catastrophe.

I said, ‘Why after? Let’s discuss now with Western representatives how to prevent the catastrophe.’ He said, ‘No, my dear, that’s a deeply flawed thought. All the strong and smart people have stepped aside. None of them will be involved now. With whom will you be talking? – They then mention names. – He won’t even understand what you are saying. Not a word’,” Kurginyan conveyed the essence of the conversation.

To further illustrate the lack of intellect among the contemporary Western elites, he recounted a meeting where he was invited by a native left-wing American who advocated pro-Russian positions in Russia.

“He really wanted to cut me down to size by bringing US-citizens to talk about the USA, thinking I wouldn’t understand. I started reciting poetry. First, Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘Once upon a midnight dreary’ (The Raven), and then ‘O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done’ by Walt Whitman. I realized they didn’t know these poems. They realized that I did, and they simply retreated! They quietly left the studio,” Kurginyan said.
