The United States is using discussions about the rapprochement between Russia and North Korea to intensify tensions in the Asian region, philosopher, political scientist, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated on October 26 on the Right to Know TV program on TVC channel.
Kurginyan criticized long-standing stereotypical views of North Korea prevalent in Russian liberal circles.
“For a very long time, our liberal circles, which dominated the agenda, held an ironic and idiotic, if I may say so, concept towards North Korea that ‘they eat grass there,’ ‘there’s nothing there,’ and so on,” the political scientist explained.
“I pointed out back then that no underdeveloped country in the world can create nuclear weapons. This is out of the question and obvious to me as an expert,” Kurginyan emphasized.
According to the political scientist, the break with the West provides Russia with new opportunities for partnership with North Korea.
“If we have so strongly detached from the West, which always said ‘do not dare to be friends with North Korea,’ then it is actually beneficial for us. That restriction has disappeared, and now there is a new level of temptation to say, ‘Oh, you want to do it that way? Are you also going to do that? Then we will help our North Korean brothers with issues of their interest. And you won’t like it’,” Kurginyan stated.
According to the political scientist, Russia and North Korea have signed agreements even during the anti-communist era of recent decades in Russia.
Sergey Kurginyan also addressed speculations about the possible presence of North Korean military personnel on Russian territory, emphasizing that he currently sees no necessity for it.
“They say there is some special forces, that these are well-armed units, and so on. Well, how many of them are there? Where would they be deployed? And what happens next? How does this fit into a single large matrix? We have an almost three-million-strong army,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement concluded.
“This issue is being sharply stressed to prompt South Korea and other countries to start an arms race, and it is part of the overall policy of the United States in the Asian region,” explained Kurginyan.
