EU countries again discuss sending their military to Ukraine

25.11.2024, Brussels.

Representatives of EU countries resumed discussions on the possibility of sending troops or private military companies (PMCs) to Ukraine, the newspaper Le Monde wrote on November 25.

According to the publication, citing a source in the British defense agency, the UK and France are discussing defense cooperation, specifically aiming to create a core group of European allies focused on assisting Ukraine and ensuring broader European security.

The discussions have intensified in recent weeks following British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to France on November 11. The potential refusal of Washington to continue supporting the Kiev regime after the inauguration of the newly elected US president is cited as the reason. Donald Trump is set to take office on January 20, 2025.

According to Le Monde, the French authorities have not yet authorized the deployment of military personnel or PMC fighters to Ukraine.
