In the recent period, the special services of European states have been less willing to conduct joint operations with Ukrainian intelligence, an unnamed FSB official said in a video distributed by the agency’s press service on 11 November.
The FSB video was devoted to a failed attempt by Ukrainian intelligence services to organize the hijacking of a Russian Mi-8 electronic warfare helicopter. According to the scenario of the Ukrainian intelligence agency (GUR), the hijacking was supposed to be carried out by the pilot of the Russian helicopter, having previously poisoned his fellow servicemen. However, this plan was foiled by Russian counterintelligence.
“Given the situation in Ukraine, the intelligence services of European states are less willing to conduct joint operations with Ukrainian intelligence, fearing image losses,” the FSB official said.
According to the initial plan of the Ukrainian military intelligence, it was supposed to “take the family of the military pilot to Ukraine through Poland or Latvia, but later, as a partner in the operation, the Ukrainian intelligence chose Moldovan special services,” as it is in Moldova that the Ukrainian GUR feels completely comfortable.
At the same time, the FSB officer noted that the Ukrainian side continues to receive support from the British intelligence services: “Feeling the support of their Western curators, primarily from the British intelligence services, in order to demonstrate their supposed efficiency and justify the financial resources spent, the Ukrainian intelligence services are ready to go even to the murder of Russian citizens, including by poisoning them”.
