The Ukrainian Mirotvorets database exists primarily for extortion and blackmail, stated Denis Yaroslavsky, the current commander of a Ukrainian recon unit, in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Natalia Vlashchenko.
According to Yaroslavsky, the Mirotvorets project was initially created by private individuals. Currently, the resource has evolved into a tool for threats and blackmail. He highlighted that individuals are added to and removed from the Mirotvorets database arbitrarily and according to non-transparent criteria.
He also mentioned that he had been approached by victims of extortion seeking help to resolve issues related to their unwarranted inclusion in the database. “People reach out to me, asking how to get off Mirotvorets. They have nothing to do with it, but are being asked for money to be removed from ‘Mirotvorets’,” he specified.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, was added to the Mirotvorets database following his visit to the BRICS summit in Kazan.
