Kiev has no objection to the transit of Russian oil purchased by European companies, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said at a press conference on the YouTube channel of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on September 10.
Denis Shmygal said, “MOL has announced that they are now the owners of the product that passes through the territory of Ukraine in transit. We are completely satisfied with this. This company is not Russian. Ukraine fulfills its obligations under the association agreement with this company, as well as to Hungary, Slovakia and Austria. The Ukrainian transit operator transports a European product and receives a market price for it from a European country or company.”
Earlier, Hungarian oil and gas company MOL announced that a new agreement on oil transit from Russia to Europe via Ukraine will come into effect on Monday. Under this agreement, MOL takes ownership of the oil starting from the Belarusian-Ukrainian border.
In August, Hungarian authorities said that MOL was ready to assume the risks of delivering oil from Russia from the Russian-Ukrainian border and pay the price difference if Kiev accepts the scheme.
