Putin says Israel is destroying Gaza Strip’s residents

06.05.2024, Moscow.

Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip do not resemble a war on terrorism, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference on June 5.

“Of course, we are against terrorism in all its manifestations. We are against attacks against civilians – in any place and any country. But what is happening now in the Gaza Strip in response to the well-known terrorist attack in Israel does not look like a war after all. This is some kind of total destruction of the civilian population,” Putin said.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the previous day that Israel’s strikes on the Gaza Strip had turned the enclave into “the world’s largest cemetery”.

On June 5, the Israeli military expanded the zone of operations in the center of the Gaza Strip, entering the refugee camps of al-Bureij and Deir al-Balah.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the number of casualties from Israeli strikes rose to 36,586, and the number of wounded exceeded 83,000.
