Rosatom head: US companies find workarounds to circumvent uranium supply ban

16.05.2024, Moscow.

U.S. companies have already found loopholes in US legislation to circumvent the ban on uranium supplies from Russia, Aleksey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, told reporters on May 16.

He noted that there are many loopholes in the law banning supplies.

“The first US companies are already submitting applications to organize supplies for themselves despite and regardless this ban,” the Rosatom head said.

A few days ago, US President Joe Biden signed a law banning uranium imports from Russia.

Rosatom called the document non-market and discriminatory. The corporation emphasized that the law undermines the stability of the global nuclear fuel market.

It should be noted that the law provides for exceptions for cases that meet the “national interests” of the United States.
