Kiev may stop attacking Russian oil refineries if the West provides them with Patriot SAM systems, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitriy Kuleba said on April 14 on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel Rada.
When asked by journalists about the US demand to stop bombing Russian oil refineries, the Ukrainian foreign minister said that Ukraine “must consider its own interests”.
“If partners say,” Kuleba developed his thought, “we give you seven Patriot SAM systems but ask you not to do this and this in return, then there is a subject for conversation. And if there are no Patriots, no aid package, and you are asked to do something, then there is no subject.”
“Everyone survives in a way they can,” the Ukrainian foreign minister summarized.
On 2 April, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the USA did not support Kiev’s strikes on Russian oil refineries.
Later, on April 10, Dmitriy Kuleba said that his “kind” diplomacy towards the West had not worked, and further he intends to “firmly request” Patriot air defense systems.
