Chief of Russian Electronic Warfare troops: Russian army can prevent Ukrainian armed units from using Starlink

15.04.2024, Moscow.

The products of Russia’s defense industry make it possible to prevent the Ukrainian armed units from using the Starlink satellite internet system, the Chief of the Russian Armed Forces’ Electronic Warfare troops, Lieutenant General Yury Lastochkin, said, the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper wrote on April 15.

He noted that problems are created by the fact that these systems use commercial frequency bands. The general emphasized that this violates international obligations.

“But the available scientific and technical background of defense industry enterprises allows us to promptly take measures to include new objects in the list of targets for impact,” Lastochkin said.

The Chief of the Electronic Warfare forces noted that Starlink terminals are used in all branches of the Ukrainian command. He called the transfer of these terminals to Kiev hypocrisy on the part of the United States and another manifestation of double standards.

Starlink is a satellite Internet system that provides a stable access channel anywhere in the world. The current contract for providing services to the Ukrainian armed units expires in May.
