Kamchatka region’s governor visited new steel construction plant for orthotropic deck production, the press service of the region’s executive bodies informed on March 11.
“Now our task is to provide the plant with orders. These are bridge and road orthotropic decks, beams of different types – so that the enterprise could develop and the peninsula would be provided with locally produced products. There is such a request from business, we will work to help the enterprise”, the Governor of Kamchatka region Vladimir Solodov emphasized.
Earlier contracting organizations brought bridge structures to Kamchatka from the mainland. At the same time, the specificity of some products is such that during transportation they lose their operational qualities and require modification.
The orthotropic decks, which the plant is currently manufacturing, will be used in the construction and repair of bridges across the Kamchatka rivers. The work is being done within the framework of the national Safe and Quality Highways initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The national project Safe and Quality Highways is one of the national projects in Russia for the period from 2019 to 2030.
One of the main tasks set by the state leader for road builders is creating a modern, comfortable, and reliable transportation infrastructure. The national project Safe and Quality Highways, launched in 2019 and logically continuing the joint work of federal and regional road authorities, became the main tool for achieving this strategic goal.
The impetus for the national project was given by the priority project Safe and Quality Roads, implemented in 2017-2018 in 36 regions.
In 2019, the National Project Safe and Quality Roads significantly expanded its geography: 83 constituent entities of the Russian Federation (excluding Moscow and St. Petersburg) and 104 cities within them became its participants.
In 2021, an updated passport of the national project was approved, which is now called Safe and Quality Highways. The document was brought in line with the Decree of the President of Russia No 474 dated 21.07.2020 “On the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030”. The national project is focused on achieving the national goal “Comfortable and safe living environment”.
