The Russian Armed Forces did not allow the Ukrainian armed units, who fled Avdeevka, to gain a foothold on the line passing through the villages of Petrovskoye, Lastochkino and Severnoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on March 5 during a conference call of the Russian Defense Ministry.
“After the Ukrainian militants fled from the Avdeevka stronghold, the Russian group of forces did not allow them to gain a foothold on the Petrovskoye-Lastochkino-Severnoye defense line and continues to push the enemy westward,” Shoigu said.
The minister emphasized that Russian troops demonstrate courage, bravery, and heroism. Shoigu also noted that the Russian Armed Forces are successfully accomplishing the tasks set before them.
On February 17, the Russian Defense Minister reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the establishment of full control over Avdeevka.
On March 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the liberation of the villages of Lastochkino, Severnoye and Petrovskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
On March 5, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian Armed Forces “continued to occupy more advantageous lines and positions” in Avdeevka.
