The West’s consumer society doesn’t want to go to war. Opinion

28.02.2024, Moscow.

European populations don’t really share the bellicose fervor of their leaders, according to the report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 574.

Before the Munich Security Conference, a survey showed that the Western population had significantly reduced their concern about the Russian military threat. In last year’s survey, Russia was recognized as the highest risk in the five G7 countries. Now the Russian threat is considered the main threat only in the UK and Japan.

In Germany, concern about the Russian threat moved to 7th place, in France to 6th place, and in Italy to 12th place. In the G7 countries as a whole, the Russian threat was in fourth place. The Western population’s concerns about migration, the environment, and climate change ranked first.

“Curiously, the European population does not really share the bellicose fervor of their leaders. However, what else can we expect from a consumer society?” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
