The situation near Avdeevka is extremely complex and tense for Ukrainian armed units, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Aleksandr Syrsky wrote on his Telegram channel on February 14.

“The operational situation is extremely complex and tense,” Syrsky wrote following his trip to the Avdeevka section of the front.

The Ukrainian commander-in-chief stated that Russian troops are conducting active offensive actions, widely using aviation, including guided bombs, as well as artillery and mortars.

On 13 February, amid the successes of Russian troops near Avdeevka, it became known that the Ukrainian armed units redeployed a brigade, which mainly consists of Azov militants (organization whose activities are banned in Russia), to stabilize the situation on this section of the front.

On February 13, the editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group Margarita Simonyan said that Syrsky had banned the dissemination of any information about the strike by Russian troops against the Selidovo training camp near Avdeevka where the Ukrainian militants were amassed.

On February 11, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appointed Aleksandr Syrsky as the Ukrainian commander-in-chief. Valeriy Zaluzhny previously held this office.
