The Houthis are taking advantage of the West’s reluctance to seriously fight them and are changing the world, according to report from the theater of war, published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 570.
There was a number of statements in the West indicating that Western countries are not ready to fight the Houthis. The UK authorities stated that they do not plan to conduct a ground operation against the Houthis, but reserve the right to launch new missile strikes against them. France said it did not intend to participate in strikes against the Houthis at all to avoid escalation in the region.
In the US, a Pentagon spokesman also said the USA was not at war with the Houthis and did not want to widen the scope of the conflict in the Middle East.
Bloomberg notes that this situation is favorable to China. The agency quotes Xiao Yunhua, a professor at the National Defense University of the People’s Liberation Army of China, who believes that the Houthis have inadvertently done China a great favor, as the refusal of shipping actually works to support the Chinese land project “One Belt, One Road”.
“No one seriously wants to go to war with the Houthis; the West has had enough of the conflict in Ukraine. This is what the Houthis are taking advantage of, having found in this a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it and moving the world,” The Essence of Time reads.
