Russian Rostec starts serial production of glide bomb Drel in 2024

10.01.2024, Moscow.

Rostec will start producing the newest Drel glide bomb in 2024, TASS wrote on January 10.

It is noted that the product passed all types of tests that were established by the contract for its development. Whether the Drel was used in the area of the zone of Russia’s special military operation is not reported. Rostec emphasized that this information is classified.

“In 2024, it is planned to produce the first serial batch of the Drel glide bomb,” Rostec said.

The state corporation specified that in parallel with preparations for the production of the Drel, work is underway to create some combat parts for it.

The creation of the Drel glide bomb was first announced in 2016. It is designed to destroy armored vehicles, ground-based radar stations, control points of power plants and anti-aircraft missile systems.

The Drel glide bomb, dropped at a significant distance from the target, is able to independently overcome it and unfold over the target at the right moment. In addition, its advantage is low visibility on radar. It is expected that it will be impossible to recognize it.
