Russian troops on Zaporozhye direction receive modernized T-80BVM tanks

Upgraded T-80BVM tanks were delivered to Russian troops on the Zaporozhye direction, a commander of one of the Russian Armed Forces’ tank units told RIA Novosti on January 4.

With the innovations and improved characteristics, the vehicle has become very effective on the battlefield, the commander said.

The T-80BVM modification tanks are produced by the Omsk Transport Machine Building Plant, part of Rostec Corporation. It is a development of the 1985 T-80BV modification. The contract for its implementation was signed in 2017.

The tanks are equipped with a 1,250 horsepower gas turbine engine. The tank’s armament consists of a 125 mm smoothbore gun and a 7.62 mm machine gun.
