The US base of Ain al-Asad in Anbar province in western Iraq was attacked for the second time in 24 hours, a source in the Iraqi army told RIA Novosti on December 11.

Earlier, the Al-Arabiya TV channel reported about explosions on the territory of the base. The TV channel did not give more detailed information about the incident. There are no official comments from the Pentagon at the moment.

“Iraqi armed units launched a missile strike on Ain al-Asad base in western Iraq,” the agency quoted a source as saying.

Earlier the Associated Press agency, citing an Iraqi official, reported that Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani received a warning from CIA Director William Burns.

The latter warned about serious consequences, which Washington example, if Iraq does not take action to stop attacks on US military bases on the territory of the country.

The agency noted that the warning from Burns is due to the increasing cases of attacks on US facilities in Iraq. US military forces in Iraq and Syria have been attacked at least 84 times since October 7, the Associated Press noted.

Also, Naim Qassem, deputy secretary general of the Lebanese Shiite organization Hezbollah, said earlier that attacks on US bases in Syria and Iraq are crucial to halting Israeli military action against the Gaza Strip.

On October 7, several thousand rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip on the territory of Israel. Detachments of the militant wing of Hamas movement began to seize strongholds of the Israeli army near the border with Gaza. They entered the border settlements on the territory of the country.

According to Israel, more than 1,400 people were killed in the attack, and more than 200 hostages were also taken to Gaza.
