Russian Defense Minister announces creation of a joint air defense system with CSTO countries

The countries that make up the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) have created a unified air defense system, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced on November 26, journalist Pavel Zarubin reported in his Telegram channel.

In fact, it has been created, created at the bilateral level. We have an agreement on the air defense systems with each of the states,” he said.

The minister recalled that the CSTO, in addition to Russia, includes Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Belarus. He emphasized that the unified air defense system is functioning and periodic exercises are held to maintain it in combat condition.

Shoigu said on November 23 that Russia continues to strengthen and reinforce the joint air defense system with CSTO member states, including taking into account the experience of the special military operation in Ukraine.
