Putin reiterates that the Russian Federation does not refuse negotiations with Ukraine

22.11.2023, Moscow.

Moscow has not abandoned peace talks with Ukraine, while Kiev has withdrawn from the negotiations, reminded Russian President Vladimir Putin at the virtual G20 summit on November 22.

Russia has never rejected peace talks with Ukraine. It is not Russia, but Ukraine that has publicly declared that it is withdrawing from the negotiation process, he said.

Putin recalled that Vladimir Zelensky, the leader of the Kiev regime, signed a decree prohibiting such negotiations. He also stated that it is necessary to end the hostilities, as they are turning into a tragedy for many families.

In October 2023, Putin denied claims that Russia started the conflict in Ukraine. He emphasized that the purpose of the special military operation in Ukraine was to stop the war that began nine years ago against those Russian people who found themselves outside the borders of the Russian Federation.
