Secretary of Russian Security Council: US actions increase the risk of using weapons of mass destruction

08.11.2023, Moscow.

The destructive actions of the United States lead to an increased risk of using weapons of mass destruction, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev said on November 8 at the opening of a meeting of secretaries of security councils of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries in Moscow.

Patrushev said that due to destructive U.S. policy, the global security situation has expectedly deteriorated. According to him, the irresponsible actions of US politicians lead not only to the fact that old crises are sharply aggravated and new ones appear, but also to the fact that serious obstacles are created for the peaceful settlement of crises.

This we “can observe today in the Middle East,” Patrushev said. He also noted that US actions “stimulate the growth of common threats and challenges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime.” As a result of the destructive behavior of US politicians, Patrushev stressed, “the risk of using nuclear, chemical and biological weapons is increasing,” as well as the militarization of space and cyberspace, which is proceeding at an accelerated pace.
