The Israeli Armed Forces launched missile strikes on the capital’s airport in Damascus and the airport in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, the Al-Watan newspaper reported on October 12.
The Al-Watan newspaper specified that the strikes hit the runways, as a result of which both airports had to suspend their work.
According to the Lebanese TV channel Al-Mayadeen, Syria’s air defense system was able to repel the Israeli attack. The violence could escalate into a large-scale war involving Israel’s neighbors, Syria and Lebanon, The Guardian notes.
The Israeli Jerusalem Post, citing Syrian media, reported that Syria’s air defense system responded to the attack.
According to Yediotnews, the IDF confirmed that the Israeli military attacked airports in Aleppo and Damascus. They did so in response to rocket launches into Israeli territory.
