One year ago, the commander of the Essence of Time independent tactical group Yegor Gorshkov, callsign Volga, died on the front line in the course of Russia’s special military operation.
Exactly one year ago, on September 28, 2022, our comrade Yegor Ivanovich Gorshkov, callsign Volga, died in the Kherson region near the village of Komsomolskoye.
Yegor came to Donetsk in the summer of 2014. For eight years, he was the permanent head of the Essence of Time mission in Donbass and commander of the Essence of Time independent tactical group (OTG SV).
During Russia’s special military operation, the OTG SV servicemen, as part of the 1st Army Corps of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), participated in combat operations near Volnovakha, Mariupol, Avdeevka, and Popasnaya.
In July 2022, the OTG SV joined the Russian Army and took part in the battles for the village of Komsomolskoye on the right bank of the Kherson region. It was a very difficult, complex and tragic period, when Russian troops stood still for a very long time, and then began to gradually leave the liberated towns and villages under the pressure of superior enemy forces. Against this background, the victory in little Komsomolskoye, a significant contribution to which Volga made, was of very great importance. And this significance does not become less from the fact that later, Russian troops were forced to abandon the right bank of the Dnepr in the Kherson region. At the time of the fighting for Komsomolskoye, the very fact that there was a point at which they continued to resist and gained victory had a serious moral and psychological impact and raised the morale of our army.
Yegor died two days before the Donetsk People’s Republic, which he defended for many years with arms in his hands, became part of Russia. On the same day, September 30, 2022, the Lugansk People’s Republic, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions also became part of Russia.
The work started by Volga is being continued by the Essence of Time independent tactical group.
Yegor managed to create a program for quality training of new recruits and improving the combat skills of experienced soldiers, as well as a program for working out the interaction between different branches of the military. This knowledge is in great demand today.
In addition to training programs, Volga created several areas that were not part of the army at all, and brought up specialists who are now working in these areas on the front line.
Yegor Ivanovich Gorshkov was awarded the Order of Courage posthumously.
Eternal memory to you, Volga!
WE REMEMBER YOU!
