Russian President Vladimir Putina and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh by phone on September 26, the press service of the Russian president informed.
“A thorough exchange of views was held on the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and the problems of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” the press service said.
Putin spoke about the assistance provided by the Russian peacekeeping contingent to civilians.
The presidents reaffirmed their commitment to resolving disputes through diplomatic means.
“Mutual interest was expressed in the activation of the 3+3 consultative platform (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Iran, Turkey),” the statement reads.
The telephone conversation took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.
