The criminal case against former US President Donald Trump has shown the real essence of US imperialism, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a speech at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on September 12.
Speaking about Trump’s prosecution, Putin said it was a good thing for Russia under current circumstances. “It shows all the rottenness of the US political system, which should not even dare to teach democracy to others,” the president emphasized.
He noted that in the situation with Trump, there is persecution for political reasons of a political rival. Trump’s case demonstrates the image of those who are fighting Russia, “shows the bestial face, the scowl of US imperialism,” Putin emphasized.
Several criminal cases were launched against Trump in the United States. On one of them, he was threatened with arrest, but the lawyers were able to agree on bail. However, the former President had to come to the prison for a photo op.
Trump is accused of trying to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.
