Kurginyan explains why Putin needed a PMC

29.07.2023, Moscow.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin created the Wagner PMC because he understood that the existing system was intended for a different reality, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on July 14 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.

According to the political scientist, Putin understands that the state system was “built for a different reality, that it must not be destroyed.” This is why “he will try to supplement it with modules with a different energy, a different dynamism.

The Wagner PMC became that kind of a parallel system. It exited along with the Russian Armed Forces, with its own leadership, rules, funding, and it was more mobile and less bureaucratized.

Putin created an alternative system because he clearly realized that the system that he had built for integration into the West could not fight it.

As I already said, a Rolls-Royce is good when you need to drive along a highway. You cannot drive it off-road or use it to cross a water obstacle,” Kurginyan said. Putin understood this, and he “took a risk as he never did before” when he established the PMC, he added.

Kurginyan stresses that there is no other system now. This system still works. It is this system that successfully ruined the Ukrainian army’s counter-offensive. Therefore, the only option is “a slow and tactful integration of parallel modules into this basic system along with making complex relations between them, changing systemic architectures and principles, Kurginyan believes.

Therefore, what the founder of the Wagner Group Evgeny Prigozhin did cannot be reduced to a mutiny. He ruined a parallel system, which could be relied on.
