Russia is facing large-scale military threats from the sea, so it is necessary to develop and strengthen the Navy, according to a summary from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, no. 535.
The Russian Defense Ministry published a vision of maritime threats against Russia in its Voennaya Mysl magazine. It is specifically noted that the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO transfers the Baltic Sea entirely under the control of the alliance. At the same time, NATO naval forces can deprive Russia of communication with Kaliningrad.
NATO’s arms buildup in the seas around Russia is also pointed out. Nearly 90% of the territory of our country is within the range of the US naval means. The situation is aggravated by the United States deploying a missile defense system near Russia’s borders.
“The conclusion is that the scale of military threats from the sea does not allow neutralizing them only with the help of ground troops and air force, so it is necessary to develop and strengthen the Navy,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
