Strikes by Ukrainian militants against targets in Russia with Ukrainian-made weapons are “legitimate,” German Cabinet of Ministers spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said at a briefing on May 31.
Speaking about the Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow, Hebeestrait said, “I gave an assessment, not of the attack itself, but an assessment in terms of international law. International law considers such strikes to be legitimate.”
On December 7, 2022, German government spokesman Hebestreit said that it was legitimate for the Ukrainian armed units to attempt to hit airfields on Russian Federation territory.
Earlier, UK’s Foreign Secretary said during a speech in Estonia that Ukraine “has the legitimate right to do so within its own borders, of course, but it does also have the right to project force beyond its borders to undermine Russia’s ability to project force into Ukraine itself.”
