US builds empire of its hegemony, alternative to UN

The US has turned from building the “League of Democracies” to the creation of an empire of American hegemony, alternative to the UN, united by its own “rules” and “values,” said Vice President of the Experimental Creative Center Yuri Byaly in his article “The decisive war,” published in the Essence of Time newspaper on May 20.

Byaly notes that the US announced the construction of the new world order and the creation of an alliance of “democratic” states, which should completely replace the UN, back in 2004. This was done by Anne-Marie Slaughter, dean of the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, in a book called “The New World Order“.

The analyst points out that, already in 2005, the US announced that the purpose of such a league of “democratic” countries is to fight “authoritarianism”. The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said this, speaking at the American University in Cairo. And major American neoconservative theorists later explained that the world is facing a war between the “League of Democracies” and the “League of Authoritarianism”.

Byaly points out that in 2017 Slaughter, already president and CEO of the New America Foundation think tank, in her new book “The Chessboard and the Web: Strategies of Connection in a Networked World” is already more explicit that the UN charter must be revised, or the rising powers will simply create their own order, which is not in the interests of the United States.

Slaughter calls for a closed political-economic world, built according to the centralized imperial model and unconditionally recognizing American hegemony, to be opposed to this development of regional powers. Byaly points out that democracy is no longer mentioned here, and “liberal internationalism adapted to the needs of the digital age” is declared to be the basis of the “new world order“.

What is ‘liberal internationalism’ is already very clear. It is an alternative UN (that is, a UN that denies the norms of international law) and a centralized empire of American hegemony closed from ‘outsiders,’ united by the United States’ own declared ‘rules,’ as well as imperative and non-negotiable ‘values’ like unlimited LGBT rights,” Byaly stresses.
