Is the USA ready to blow up the largest microchip production facilities in Taiwan?

23.05.2023, Moscow.

The USA is ready to blow up the factories of the largest semiconductor manufacturer TSMC in Taiwan so that China does not take control of them, according to a report from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, no. 533.

US Congressman Seth Moulton stated that if China invades Taiwan, the US will blow up the production facilities of one of the world’s largest microchip manufacturers TSMC. Reacting to this statement of the US senator, Taiwan Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said that the army would not allow anyone to destroy facilities on the island.

It is noted that the idea of using “scorched earth” tactics that would make Taiwan not only unattractive but also costly to rebuild in case Beijing decides to annex the island by force is gaining popularity in the United States.

Previously, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s national security advisor Robert O’Brien also stated that the United States and its allies would never allow Taiwan’s semiconductor plants to fall into the hands of the Chinese.

“It should be noted that the famous American billionaire Warren Buffett sold all shares in Taiwan’s TSMC, saying it would be better to invest in Japan, where the microchip production is ramping up,” The Essence of Time‘s editorial reads.

Earlier, former agent of the GDR intelligence service Rainer Rupp analyzed the current discussion among US strategists about the future of Taiwan in the case of China’s military attempt to establish control over the island, including the “scorched earth” strategy.
