The effect of a Ukrainian counteroffensive, if it takes place, will not be military, but information-psychological, according to a report from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper no 531.
Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, former commander of the US Army Europe, said that the main goal of the Ukrainian army’s counteroffensive was the isolation of the Crimean Peninsula.
At the same time, Kiev claims that the West must supply Ukraine with additional weapons to launch a counteroffensive. In response, representatives of NATO and US military circles point out that Ukrainian troops suffer significant losses every week, so Kiev, while waiting, is depleting its military power.
“The main effect of a Ukrainian counteroffensive, if it does take place, will be not in the capture of territories, but in the informationpsychological victory – at least to spoil celebration of the Victory Day in Russia and to raise morale for themselves,” The Essence of Time‘s editorial reads.
