Ukrainian general reports heavy losses in Artemovsk

26.04.2023, Kiev.

The Ukrainian armed units are suffering heavy losses in Artemovsk [Bakhmut] because they were not prepared for the defense, General Sergey Krivonos, former deputy commander of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, said on April 25, the Ukrainian TV Channel 5 informed.

According to him, Ukraine is paying “a terrible price” for Artemovsk, because it made mistakes and did not prepare the city for defense. He stressed that it was necessary “not just to prepare the approaches to the city, but to prepare the city itself for defense.”

As a result of insufficient preparations, the Ukrainian armed units suffered “quite large losses,” the general said.

According to him, the Ukrainian armed units should have left Artemovsk in February, and now the situation is deteriorating.

Artemovsk played an important role in supplying the Ukrainian armed units. As of April 18, 90% of the city’s territory was under the control of Russian forces. On April 24, it was reported that the Ukrainian armed units had left only “a couple of good brigades” in Artemovsk.
