Poland’s authorities requested permission from Germany to supply fighter jets to Ukraine, the German news agency dpa reported on April 13, quoting government circles.
The question is about the Soviet-type MiG-29 jets, which were in service with the East German army and were transferred to Poland by German authorities after Germany’s reunification.
Polish President Andrzej Duda discussed the possible transfer of 14 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. Poland would keep the rest of the aircraft, which had been upgraded to NATO standards.
