Poland sends MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine

The first batch of MiG-29 fighters was sent to Ukraine, Marcin Przydacz, head of the Polish President’s International Policy Office, said in an interview with RMF FM on April 3.

The batch consists of several planes.

The US president said that the USA would not send F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that his country was ready to train Ukrainian pilots to fly NATO fighters. However, London later clarified that it was not yet talking about the jets’ deliveries to Ukraine.

Germany has also repeatedly stated that it would not deliver fighters to Kiev. Ukraine’s ambassador to Berlin, Aleksey Makeyev, recently confirmed this.

EU countries are supplying weapons to Ukraine so that it can stand up to Russian military special operations. Ukraine received 155mm guns from NATO countries: the US M777, the German PzH 2000, the Polish Krab and the French CAESAR.

The USA has already provided Ukraine with military aid worth about $26 billion. NATO countries supply Ukraine with weapons to counter Russian military special operations in Donbass. Among them are US large-caliber artillery systems and high-precision HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems.

Russia warned Western countries that arms deliveries to Ukraine only lead to an escalation of the conflict. Any shipments of weapons going to Ukraine could become targets for Russian army strikes.
