The United Kingdom and Japan sign technical agreement on cooperation in space

A technical agreement outlining future space cooperation between the United Kingdom and Japan was signed by the leaders of the Royal Air Force and Koku-Jietai (Japan Air Self-Defense Force), the Royal Air Force press service reported on March 17.

British Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Wigston and Koku-Jietai Chief of Staff in Japan General Sunji Izutsu signed the terms of reference after talks at the DSEI Japan military technology exhibition taking place this week in Tokyo.

The cooperation will cover such areas as operational knowledge sharing, joint exercises and training, and personnel exchanges.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Wigston and Air Vice Marshal Paul Godfrey were both in Tokyo to attend DSEI Japan. The collaboration is expected to advance UK priorities “in key areas such as air and missile defense, unmanned aerial vehicles, maritime, cyber and space.
