The creation of professional elite clubs and institutions that would rely on their own media is the most important task of the current era, Sergey Kurginyan, a philosopher, political analyst and leader of the Essence of Time movement, said in his closing speech at the presentation of his collective monograph “Ukrainism” on March 4.
The political scientist is convinced that the war with the West can only be won if Russia’s elite, which has all aspired to become part of the West, can be reformatted.
Kurginyan said that “very serious people” in the West asked him a question: “Tell me one thing: are you still Romans or are you already Italians?” These “serious” people were worried whether there were people of the imperial type left in the elite or there were only admirers of the West.
According to the expert, we need to work with those in the elite who feel “Roman” and understand what the West has prepared for Russia.
“The question now is how to create professional elite clubs and institutions and how to connect these activities with our own mass media,” the analyst said.
He called for forgetting the media outlets that were created by the elite for one purpose, to join the West, and to create our own. “If we cannot create media for 10 million, then we are bad,” Kurginyan stressed.
The leader of the Essence of Time movement emphasized that all the intellectual resources of the Experimental Creative Center and the Aleksandrovskoye Commune are open to the task of reassembling the elite. “And maybe it’s time for a new club of Substantive Unity and new dialogues on this topic,” Kurginyan concluded.
