02.03.2023, New Delhi

G20 countries have agreed that the African Union will become a full member of the G20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists on March 2.

“We have agreed that the African Union will henceforth be a full member of the G20,” Lavrov said after the meeting in New Delhi. The diplomat noted that the European Union already has such a status.

The African Union is an organization that brings together 55 countries in Africa and is the successor to the Organization of African Unity. Its activities are aimed at coordinating and intensifying cooperation for the development of African states.
