The situation around Kupyansk is tense, Russian troops are pushing the enemy out of their positions, Vitaly Ganchev, the head of the military and civil administration of the Kharkov region, said, RIA Novosti informed on March 2.
“The situation around Kupyansk and the district is tense, there are battles, and the Russian army is pushing the enemy out of their positions more and more,” he said.
Ganchev stressed that the Ukrainian armed units are organizing combat positions everywhere without paying attention to local residents. Residents of Kupyansk are being forcibly removed from the city, and their homes are being given to the Ukrainian military.
On March 2, the Ukrainian administration of Kupyansk announced the evacuation of children, the elderly and disabled people. The decision was made back on February 27. The authorities motivated their decision by the “unstable security situation”.
