Stopping the transit of rare earth metals will hit Europe hard. Opinion

09.02.2023, Moscow.

Stopping the supply of rare earth metals to Europe would slow down the supply of weapons to Kiev regime, according to reports from the war theater published in the Essence of Time newspaper.

The newspaper cites data from Bloomberg, which called the most vulnerable link in the arms production chain for Ukraine the supply of rare-earth metals to Europe from China via Russia.

According to the agency, China supplies about 90 percent of the required rare earth metals. Most of the supplies go through Russia. Alternative routes are insufficiently equipped and cannot provide the necessary throughput capacity.

If Russia stops deliveries, the economies of Europe will face big problems. As a minimum, they would have to increase spending on logistics. At the same time, the EU was careful not to impose sanctions against this trade area.

“What about cutting off the supply channels of rare earths to Europe in order to slow down the Kiev regime’s pumping of heavy weapons at least a little bit? Or do we also have economic interests above national ones?

By the way, both the USA and China, which have declared enemies of each other, benefit form the conflict in Ukraine. And Russia and Ukraine are paying for this banquet. With blood…,” the Essence of Time‘s editorial commentary reads.
