Political situation

Former Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev was appointed First Deputy Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council.

UN Secretary General Guterres has expressed his fear that the world is sliding into a “larger war” than the conflict in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the situation in connection with the earthquakes in Turkey, according to the press service of the Kremlin. Putin expressed his deep condolences to Erdogan because of the two earthquakes that caused numerous deaths in Turkey.
