Speaking of Crimea, Croatian President reminds the West of Kosovo

30.01.2023, Belgrade.

Western countries had previously torn Kosovo away from Serbia, so they must accept that Crimea will never belong to Ukraine again, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said at a press conference on January 30.

Milanovic noted that no one in the world except the USA can be an equal opponent to Russia. At the same time, “you moralize, and the Russians, because they are cynics, will refer to the annexation of Kosovo, which I personally support … because the international community and we took it from Serbia,” he said.

He stressed that after Kosovo was taken away from Serbia without regard for the opinion of citizens, “it was only a matter of time before the Russians or anyone else would do the same.” In this regard, he expressed confidence that “Crimea will never be part of Ukraine again. This is so clear that the leading German generals say so too, and they said so even before the war.”

Milanovic called Russia a “dangerous country” that is now Ukraine’s adversary.

Crimea became part of Russia as a result of a referendum in which more than 96% of voters participated, with more than 85% supporting the initiative. Yugoslavia was dismembered with the active military intervention of NATO countries and the bombing of civilians in 1999.
