Kurginyan: The West does not believe that Russia will actually decide to change

13.12.2022, Moscow.

The West, in the Ukrainian conflict, is betting on the reluctance of Russian elites to change the social system, even in the face of mortal danger, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on December 9 in an interview with Anna Shafran on Radio Zvezda published on YouTube.

“In the future, the West sees the Russian elites to be crucified along the the Appian Way, because they did not make any changes,” said the political scientist.

However, the West does not take into account Russian President Vladimir Putin’s instinct of danger, which was formed during his service in the intelligence and only had grown with years, assures Kurginyan.

At the same time, the instinct of danger, according to the political scientist, will be able to outweigh the fear of changes and the fear of looking at reality and the current situation with a clear eye, “where they say: you won’t escape, no more ‘wheeling and dealing’, there are fewer and fewer resources, we are led to a slaughter, and no one wants to die”.

And even if the elites decide on certain saving measures, on changing the way, then comes a number of complicated issues:

“Changes in which direction? What are the most important strategic goals? Who is going to take responsibility for the changes? Who is the subject of these changes? How to implement them?” – the leader of the Essence of Time movement listed the key points.
