Kiev must recognize Russia’s new regions. Key Points of Kremlin Press Secretary’s Briefing

13.12.2022, Moscow.

Kiev’s recognition of the new regions as part of the Russian Federation is a necessary condition for further interaction, Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on December 13.

Peskov stressed that without taking into account the will of the people in the new Russian regions, no progress is possible.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, the three steps “towards peace” made by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky are in fact steps towards the continuation of hostilities. Peskov also stressed that there can be no talk about the withdrawal of Russian troops from the zone of the special operation and the new regions.

Peskov also commented on French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement about the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP. This can be confirmed by IAEA specialists, contacts with whom are maintained, the Kremlin Press Secretary noted.

Restoring and establishing peaceful life in the new regions and republics of Russia is an absolute priority for the Russian authorities, but much work must be done to achieve this. Peskov noted the excellent progress in building new roads in Russia, both regional and federal. He stressed that the country is still developing and that transport communications are the foundation of this development.

In addition, Peskov refuted a number of rumors. For example, he called rumors about the resignation of Valery Gerasimov, the head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, a “Telegram fake.”

Peskov also said that the announcement of the President’s address on December 27 was incorrect.

Another topic touched upon at the briefing by Peskov was Russian-Chinese relations. According to the Kremlin spokesman, Vladimir Putin supports Chinese leader Xi Jinping and is preparing to continue cooperation.
