Sweden refuses to deliver Gripen fighters to Ukraine

12.12.2022, Kiev.

The Swedish government does not intend to supply Gripen fighters to the Kiev regime, Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonson said at a joint briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart Aleksey Reznikov, the Aftonbladet newspaper reported on December 12.

“There are no plans to deliver Gripen jets, I will tell you frankly,” Jonsson said.

Earlier, Swedish parliamentarians approved the government’s proposal to provide Ukraine with military equipment worth 3 billion crowns (about $284 million). The equipment to be supplied includes air defense equipment, off-road vehicles, winter uniforms and tents.

Gripen is a multi-purpose fighter that can also perform reconnaissance tasks and be a striking aircraft.
