WirtschaftsWoche: Germany is on the verge of losing sovereignty

15.11.2022, Berlin.

Germany could lose its sovereignty completely because of US arms purchases, experts Max Biederbeck-Ketterer and Rüdiger Kiani-Kreß wrote in the business magazine WirtschaftsWoche on November 14.

The experts believe that Berlin’s main problem at the moment is German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht’s decision to rely on increasing the combat capabilities of German troops at the expense of “produced and quickly delivered” foreign weapons.

The authors of the article note that the delivery of the US armament is being discussed, “which includes the F-35 stealth bomber of the Lockheed Martin company and the P8A Poseidon submarine fighter, as well as the new heavy transport helicopter Chinook, both produced by Boeing.”

According to journalists, military cooperation with Washington in the sphere of arms supply is quite disturbing for German military companies.

The magazine quotes representative of German defense company Diehl BGT Defense Gerado Walle as saying that the Bundestag risks losing important key technologies that may lead to the loss of autonomy and sovereignty of Germany in armament issues.

Also, another German defense industry expert Martin Kroell pointed out that the German industry should be sure “that in the next 30-50 years we will not give ourselves completely into the hands of the Americans.”

In late October Die Welt newspaper wrote that the German army had a stock shortage after the transfer of arms, ammunition and other material resources to Ukraine, stressing that the German army was left “naked” and had fallen into a state of “free fall.”
