Iran urges to expand cooperation between Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states

Strengthening cooperation among the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to create an advanced model of lasting convergence is necessary for all members of the organization. This was stated by Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, IRNA reported on November 1.

The Iranian politician said this during an online meeting of prime ministers of SCO member states. He also called for creating a joint financial mechanism, as well as a mechanism of energy security and comprehensive management of transit corridors and international information security.

Mokhber referred to the steps taken by Iran to develop the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) project, which will facilitate trade access for South and East Asian countries to Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, the Black Sea and Europe.

He stressed that all the SCO member countries should contribute to realization of this strategic goal.
