Novaya Kakhovka authorities call Zelensky’s statement about the Russian threat to hydroelectric power plants nonsense

20.10.2022, Novaya Kakhovka.

The Kiev regime, not Russia, benefits from destroying the Kakhovskaya HPP dam; all accusations made by Zelensky are nonsense, head of the Novaya Kakhovka administrative district Vladimir Leontyev told TASS reporters on October 20.

“[Zelensky’s accusations of Russia allegedly intending to destroy the Kakhovka HPP] This is absolute nonsense. First of all, one has to think who benefits from this: only Ukraine benefits from this, [it seeks] to destroy the dam and the hydroelectric plant, to disrupt logistics, to sow fear and panic, to stop the possibility to supply water through the North Crimean canal to the territory of Crimea,” Leontiev stressed.

According to him, the Kiev regime for the past five months daily attacks the region with rockets.

“The maximum that I know was 74 [missiles fired from an MLRS] HIMARS, which flew from Ukraine, which were supplied by the collective West, NATO. Was this also Russia threatening to blow up the dam? This is absolutely illogical, this is distorted thinking,” Leontiev noted.

The leader of the Kiev regime Vladimir Zelensky accused Russia of the intention to destroy the Kakhovka hydropower plant and its dam, speaking by video before the EU summit in Brussels. Earlier, the Novaya Kakhovka authorities said that the Kiev regime might try to destroy the dam with sea mines. According to Leontyev, damage to the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant will make it impossible to supply water through the North Crimean Canal for a long time.

It should also be recalled that this is not the first such accusation against Russia for the crimes committed by the Kiev regime. Zelensky has already stated that it is not Kiev’s troops that have been shelling Donbass for eight years, but Russia’s. Russia was also blamed for the mass execution of the local population in the settlement of Bucha, although footage of the Ukrainian military laying out corpses in the village appeared online. Zelensky also claimed that it was not the Kiev regime that carried out the terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge, although the Russian special services provided documentary evidence that the attack was initiated by the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine).
