The understanding that the USA is using the conflict in Ukraine as an opportunity to assert its dominance in Europe is coming to the European Union member countries, French Member of European Parliament Thierry Mariani said on October 11, RIA Novosti reported.
“The French minister of economics has finally realized that the USA is using the war in Ukraine to strengthen its economic dominance in Europe,” he said.
The politician noted that the head of the country’s Ministry of Economics Bruno Le Maire earlier told about the high cost of liquefied natural gas, which is supplied by the USA to Europe.
He specified that the USA sells this gas four times more expensive than for US consumers.
The deputy pointed out that before Russia’s special military operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, the Russian Federation provided a quarter of the energy consumption of EU countries. Europe consumed about 45% of Russian gas.
